Is There a Scenario that could Result in NO teams from the SEC in the BCS Title Game?

It's been quite a year
In a simple, quick and concise answer; No.
I know, I killed the suspense, but was there really any to begin with?? Tell you what, I'll drag it out and delay the inevitable -the acknowledgement that the SEC is the BEST conference in the land and that the National Champion WILL come out of that same conference, and let's look at some scenarios that, even after you examine them, aren't as far fetched as they might seem. And given the way the season has spun out, you never know what might happen.
It's about the two best teams, right?
So many people are clamoring about a rematch between Alabama & LSU and before we look at scenarios, it has to be something beyond just the issue of not wanting to see another 9-6 game in which 4 -FOUR field goals were missed by Alabama. It's about the best two teams. Period. I don't care what Mark May at ESPN says -or anybody else for that matter, about not wanting to see a rematch, the fact remains that no two teams are as good as Alabama and LSU, pending that they both win out the rest of the way.
Now, seeing as that we have settled THAT, let's look at the BCS standings and work our way UP the rankings ...
8. Houston. I'm going to make this simple. They have NO SHOT. Too many things would have to happen and even if they all happen, Houston is STILL not in the title game. And that is primarily because of their weak conference, weak strength of non-conference schedule and they were too far back to make up that much ground. It's just not happening. They could and should be content with a BCS Bowl bid and that will help their recruiting moving forward. Celebrate your amazing 2011 season Houston, it's all you're going to get.
7. Boise State. Two years in a row? A missed field goal against TCU? What are these guys, the modern-day Florida State?? Well, anyway ... to climb FIVE spots just to get to number 2, Stanford has to lose again (not happening), Virginia Tech has to lose (possibly in the ACC title game), Oklahoma State has to lose TWICE in my opinion, which could happen, but won't. Say Arkansas loses to LSU and it's close, they will STILL be ahead of Boise after this weekend. Only way Boise passes Arkansas is if LSU blows the Razorbacks out. If indeed that does happen, Alabama won't lose to Auburn and with LSU beating Arkansas, Boise's on the outside looking in. If Arkansas beats LSU and by some miracle, Auburn beats Alabama, LSU will STILL be ahead of Boise and Stanford would be the Number 2 team. Case closed.
6. Stanford. They are almost in the same position as Boise. The log-jam ahead (moving forward) still is revolving around the idea that IF LSU loses to Arkansas, the lowest they drop is 3rd in the BCS, with Alabama and Arkansas ahead of them and Stanford -at best, 4th and that's IF Oklahoma State loses to Oklahoma. The Cardinal is praying for an Auburn upset and a Georgia victory.
5. Virginia Tech. I'm going to be honest. I don't know HOW they're ahead of Stanford in this, unless it's the Andrew Luck factor. Needless to say, they best shot they have is if Auburn beats Alabama and LSU loses to Arkansas and THEN Arkansas (the highest rated BCS team in the SEC West) loses to Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Then they still have to pray for an Oklahoma State loss to the Sooners and then wait to see which SEC team they'd have to play ... and lose to.
4. Oklahoma State. They have the best shot. Beat the Sooners, LSU loses to Arkansas, Alabama loses to Auburn and Arkansas loses to Georgia, then Oklahoma State is Number one and would more than likely play in the Title Game.
Forget the top three, after all, this is about scenarios that would most likely present a title game WITHOUT SEC teams, right? So, for NO SEC teams to play in the title game, this is what would have to happen ....
THE SKY WOULD HAVE TO FALL AND NO GAME IS PLAYED.
If LSU loses to Arkansas, they're season is done and they can sit at Number 3 -at the worst and wait it all out. Arkansas would more than likely leap frog Alabama and move to Number 1, while if Alabama loses to Auburn, they are done and LSU would move up to Number 2. Arkansas sleepwalks through the Georgia Dome and loses to the Dogs, the LSU moves up to Number 1 again and plays Oklahoma State in the title game.
So who's it going to be??
When the dust finally settles, with everything happening like it's SUPPOSED to happen -i.e., Alabama beats the tar out of Auburn, LSU handles Arkansas (barely) and Oklahoma State gets by the Sooners, it's going to be ...
LSU - Alabama, Round 2.
But not by a lot. If Oklahoma State tears the Sooners apart at home, it could sway the voters just enough to push them past the Tide in some of the polls and in the computers. Time will tell. Personally, I want to see a rematch because the best team didn't win the first time. Alabama will correct its mistakes and take the Tigers out in the title game. Sabin will get his second title at 'Bama.
But we'll see, won't we? If anything is certain, nothing is sure thing this season.
